Sunset Wood Internal Heart Walk & Practice Walks

Practice Walks Held on Fridays at 10:30 am

February marks the kickoff of our internal Heart Walk Event right here at Sunset Wood. If you don’t know, we host our own Heart Walk right in the hallways of Sunset Wood so our tenants can be a part of the action. We will begin raising money under the team name “Sunset Wood Walkers” with the goal of raising over $1,000.

To help build our stamina for our internal Heart Walk on Friday, March 13th, we are implementing “practice walks” every Friday at 10:30 am. Our Wellness Coordinator, Kendall, will track how far you walk each practice so we are able to build-up to your goal on the big event day.

The Community at Sunset Wood Changes Leadership

Reverend Carol Jubenville to Step Down as Executive Director

NEW HARTFORD, N.Y. – On the heels of the community recognition of “Best of the Best Apartment Facility” Award, The Community at Sunset Wood is making more changes. After Twenty-four years as Executive Director, Carol Jubenville will be stepping down and the facility’s Director of Operations, Dominick Manfredo has been selected as the new Executive Director effective January 1, 2020.

The Community at Sunset Wood is a senior housing facility with a rich history dating back to 1882 and has received recognition through numerous awards for their philosophy for aging in place. The facility has evolved into a senior housing model including services, for others to emulate throughout the State of New York and beyond.

Rev. Jubenville began as Executive Director in 1996 and has created an environment that aided the development of opportunities to help seniors have a unique housing experience that encourages “aging in place” while looking at the whole person and their needs. Jubenville attributes the success during her tenure to working with a wonderful staff and dedicated board members over the years.

In 2016, Dominick Manfredo was hired as Director of Operations and within the past four years the two have worked side by side with the plan of Manfredo becoming the next Executive Director. Rev. Jubenville said; “Dominick’s vision and ability to relate to the senior population will help formulate new opportunities for senior living in our area. This is a very exciting time for The Community at Sunset Wood and those we serve.”

Rev. Jubenville will be leaving the position at The Community at Sunset Wood to begin a new work as President and Founder of Divine Development and Leadership Group that will

offer nonprofits consulting services that will boost non-profit organizations succession plans, visioning and leadership at all levels.

Mr. Manfredo said; “I am both honored, and grateful to the board for this opportunity to lead such an influential organization of hard-working, dedicated and talented people. We will continue to tell our story of enabling seniors to live independently in a secure environment that enhances the quality of life while pushing the limits of creating innovative ways to fulfill our vision. This is truly a tremendous opportunity to lead the way in senior advocacy for our local community.”
